The Brief Introduction to Ningbo
General TapWater Company
Ningbo is a famous Chinese port city with many nationals
living abroad. It is one of the subordinate cities to
the central government permitted by the State Council,
which ranked higher than other cities. It is located in
the developed east part o f
Zhejiang Province.
City water supply is important infrastructure that is
vital to the development of national economy and the improvement
of domestic living quality. The first Jiangdong Water
Works set up in 1956 is a solid and important starting
step for the development of Ningbo water supply business.
After 48 years' pioneering work, it has developed into
Ningbo General Tap Water Company. Now it has become a
multi-functional enterprise that mainly majors in water
supply, sales service and facility maintenance, and meanwhile
it also deals with supply project plan, construction,
production of high quality water, hydro-technique development
and research, production and installment of water supply
facility and other diversifications.
Ningbo General Tap Water Company aims at improving drinking
water quality and service quality. According to the requirement
of modern enterprise system, based on its actual situation,
the company has kept on deepening reform and strengthening
management to lay a solid foundation for self-development
so as to assure the construction and continuous development
of Ningbo economy. Till August of 2004, i ts
fixed assets is up to RMB 1,911,000,000, the general water
production capacity reaches 970,000 ton per day and the
highest supply capacity is 882,000 ton per day. Now it
has Jiangdong, Nanjiao, Meilin, Cicheng and Beilun subordinate
water works. Our company now takes the responsibility
to provide water for central city area of Ningbo, covering
Haishu, Jiangdong, Jiangbei, Zhenhai, Beilun and part
of Yinzhou District with a supply area of 600 square kilometers,
supply population of over 1200000, which means an availability
to all the residents. The water supply tube with over
DN100mm is 1278.2 kilometers, the diversion tube between
DN800 and DN1600mm is 122 kilometers. The total staff
is 1264, among which there are 275 professional technicians,
2 senior engineers, 21 with advance titles, 115 with intermediate
titles, 1 doctor, 1 master and 179 bachelors.
In order to improve water quality and supply capability,
we have set up Hengshan, Tingxia, Yingxiong reservoirs
and Xiaozhen diversion works and replaced diversion from
rivers with that from reservoirs. Now we have built up
a water supply tube net for the city. Meanwhile, we also
have set up detecting measures and advanced monitor station
for water supply. The detecting range is 104 items. The
turbidity of all the water works is lower than 0.5NTU,
the hydraulic pressure is between 0.25 and 0.35Mpa, and
the average percentage of pass is 99.6%. The set-up of
technical center of hydro-industry project has provided
technical support for city water supply, drainage, water
processing, water resources, water environment and the
development of water business.
With the rapid development of Ningbo economic society,
city water demand has rocked up. In order to meet the
requirement of  the
principle of satisfying market and demand, advancing appropriately
and improving development, and in order to speed up significant
water supply project construction, our company plans to
invest nearly RMB5,000,000,000 to construct Baixi and
Jiao Kou (Zhou Gong Zhai) diversion project, water supply
project for important industry, Dong Qian Lake and Mao
Jia Ping water works, water supply project for regional
development and construction and modernized technique
renovation project of water works. It is predicted that
by 2006, Ningbo city water supply capacity will reach
2,000,000 ton per day, which consists of domestic water
of 1,500,000 ton and commercial water of 500,000 ton per
day.
According to "highway mode of water supply",
we plan to construct looped tube net of city water supply
to improve its safety reliability. Since 2000 we have
transformed roof water containers and installed separate
water meter for each family to achieve the integration
of rural and suburb water supply. And we try to finish
this project at the end of 2005.
In water supply service, we are society and people-benefit-oriented.
We hold "water supply is affection supply" and
"civilized service lies in every word we say and
every deed we do" as our service concept. We have
carried out a set of service measures such as social service
undertaking system, 110 urgent water supply service, extended
service system, external window service system, hot line
service of 96390, initial responsibility system and efficiency
development and supervision system to improve service
quality.
In order to specify different water supply and arrange
water resources scientifically, Ningbo General Tap Water
Company has set a goal of "double combinations",
which means the combination of domestic water supply quality
with international advanced level and that of water supply
service with market demand. It has set up and is trying
to perfect a convenient and efficient service system featured
with network, information, publicity and humanity. It
also tries to establish a modern enterprise image of modernized
management means, regular management principles and outstanding
cultural concept. And we are sure to enter the era of
large-scoped construction and rapid development of city
water supply.
